NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the people of Croatia and Slovenia on their Statehood Day.

Modi tweeted: "On their Statehood Day, I convey my greetings and best wishes to the people of Croatia, a nation which is India's deeply valued friend."

In another tweet, he said: "Warm greetings to the people of Slovenia on their nation's Statehood Day. I am very optimistic about the strong ties between our nations."

Slovenia lies in central Europe, while Croatia is an eastern European country.
