MC Secretary Suspended for Remaining Absent from Duty in Jammu and Kashmir

JAMMU: Secretary of Municipal Committee in Udhampur district has been suspended for allegedly remaining absent from duty "unauthorisedly."

Sudershan Singh, Secretary, Municipal Committee, Chenani has been placed under suspension and attached with office of Assistant Commissioner Revenue for unauthorized absence from duty and leaving station without permission in contravention of circular instructions issued by General Administration Department, a District officer said today.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue has been appointed as inquiry officer for holding a probe in the matter, he said. The monitoring cell in Deputy Commissioner's office traced the location of the officer in Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, through mobile coordinates.

Accordingly, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chenani was deputed for inspection of office and verification following which the secretary was found to be absent, he said. Singh was also found to be absent from duty since June 24 2014, he added. The SDM then intimated the information revealed from attendance register to the Deputy Commissioner.

DC Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary placed Singh under suspension for unauthorised absence from duty and proceeding to Srinagar without permission thereby neglecting public services, the officer said.

Meanwhile, action has also been initiated against DFO Social Forestry and a BDO for unauthorised absence from meeting, he added.
