Mob Lynches Bihar School Principal After Bodies of Two Boys Found in a Ditch

PATNA: The principal of the reputed Devendra Prasad School (DPS) in Nalanda district of Bihar was lynched by a mob on Sunday after the bodies of two students were found in a ditch nearby.

Initially, locals vandalised the institute and torched vehicles and later mercilessly beat up DPS principal Devendra Prasad with sticks. He succumbed on the way to hospital.

“The bodies of Ravi Kumar and Sagar Kumar, students of the residential DPS school, were fished out from a water-filled ditch near Nirpur close to the school, sparking off protests by locals,” said Sunil Kumar, Nalanda police station in charge. Prasad had earlier said both students had left the school without informing the officials. TV footage showed Prasad being thrashed by the mob over the death of the students. The mob kicked and hit him with fists, while he lay face down on the ground. SP Sidharth Mohan Jain promised action against the culprits.
