NEW DELHI: The BJP on Monday staged a demonstration outside the AICC headquarters here against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s controversial remarks on Raksha Bandhan festival.
And the protesters got into a scuffle with police women as they tried to stop the demonstration at a barricade set up near the Congress office. Later, police detained around 150 workers and took them to the Parliament Street Police Station.
BJP women’s wing president Kamaljeet Sehrawat said that the Congress leaders had always resorted to divisive caste- based politics and Azad’s statement reflected the same dirty thought process.
Instead of appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to brothers to give an insurance policy as a Raksha Bandhan gift to their sisters, Azad has tried to provoke Muslims by saying that Prime Minister should have talked of Ramzan.
