Police Arrest Hardcore Maoist in Jamui

A hardcore Maoist, carrying a reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head, was arrested today from a village in Bihar's Jamui district, a police officer said.

JAMUI: A hardcore Maoist, carrying a reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head, was arrested today from a village in Bihar's Jamui district, a police officer said.

Acting on a tip off, the police raided Kokra Mahto Dih village and netted the hardcore Maoist, identified as Raju Yadav, who had come to attend a wedding function at his relative's place, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Operations, D.N. Pandey said.

Yadav, an accused in police van break-in case in Jharkhand's Giridih district, was wanted by the Jamui police, in a number of incidents of Naxal violence in the district, he said. The district police put Rs. 50,000 as reward on his head as he was elusive for a long time, Pandey said.
