NEW DELHI: With the BJP-NDA Government gearing up to celebrate its first anniversary on May 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met senior Cabinet colleagues and even party chief Amit Shah for discussing the plans.

Modi, who returned from a three-nation tour of China, Mongolia and South Korea on Tuesday night, was closeted with ministers Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari to fine tune the outreach programme to be launched by the various ministries.

Modi will kick-start the celebrations from May 25, a day ahead of the official celebrations, with a rally at party ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth place at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

After the PM’s rally, the ministers will hold their respective news conferences and rallies to highlight the government’s pro-poor policies and the promises it had fulfilled during the one year. All the Cabinet ministers will hold pressers not only  here, but even in the other state capitals and the process  would continue till June 10.

BJP president Amit Shah also met the Prime Minister in connection with the anniversary celebrations. And the party is closely coordinating with all the ministers and MPs who have also been asked to hold at least two-three meetings in their areas.

Sources said the with multiple surveys conducted by various organisations still giving good marks on governance issues, but the perception of inaccessibility of ministers was still troubling the party and the government. Efforts were being out to make the ministers and senior party leaders more accessible to the cadre and common people. Modi too is keen that image of his government should be that of pro-poor against the image of pro-corporate painted by the Opposition parties.
