According to media reports, Son of Jama Masjid’s Shahi Imam is all set to tie the knot with a Hindu woman. Both of them have been in a relationship for a couple of years.
A Patrika report says that the Hindu woman hailing from Ghaziabad and has been studying the Quran for some time now. Initially, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam of the Masjid did oppose the marriage and later gave consent only if the bride will follow Islam. The marriage (Nikah) is set to take place on November 13 and the reception (Davat-e-Valima) is on November 15 at a farmhouse in Mahipalpur.
However, an office-in-charge of Jama Masjid has denied this saying that the reports are a bunch of lies to defame the family ahead of the Uttar Pradesh panchayat polls. He even suggested that it was a political conspiracy by a Muslim leader from the Samajwadi Party.
The Shahi has already formally anointed his son Shaban Mukhari will be his successor in a grand ceremony last year at the Jama Masjid.
