Shahid Iqbal Choudhary also said that elaborate security arrangements have been taken and deployment of force along National Highway has been enhanced by the district police.

"Teams of policemen in civil clothes are also maintaining vigilance against any attempts to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the district," the Deputy Commissioner said.

Three persons, including a policeman, had received burn injuries when a Kashmir-bound truck was attacked with a petrol bomb in Udhampur district on Friday night, following which six persons were arrested.

Clarifying on the rumors of fresh attacks, the IAS officer maintained that no such incident has been reported after the truck incident on intervening night of October 9 and 10.

Further clarifying the news reports in circulation on social media regarding attack on a Kulgam-bound vehicle by miscreants in Udhampur yesterday, Shahid said that no such incident has occurred or been reported in the district.

However, the accused persons in the attack on Anantnag-bound truck are already under arrest.

Meanwhile, responding to a question on security arrangements, it was informed that adequate security arrangements are in place to thwart any such attempt to disturb the peaceful atmosphere or inflict damage to life and property.

DIG Udhampur-Reasi range is personally monitoring the security deployment and arrangements and confidence building measures have also been taken, official spokesman said.

The support from local people in Udhampur is also encouraging and anti-social elements involved in rumour mongers have been identified to be booked under law in addition to persons arrested for criminal act, he said.

The DC negated the reports of fresh attack based on which protests were witnessed in some parts of Kashmir today and informed that he has clarified the matter and factual position to Deputy Commissioners Kulgam and Anantnag as well.
