Engineer Rashid Who Was Attacked With Ink Withdraws Case

The MLA last month was beaten up by the BJP MLAs inside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for allegedly hosting a beef party.

NEW DELHI: The independent lawmaker of Jammu and Kashmir Engineer Rashid who was attacked with ink in New Delhi on Monday has withdrawn the case and has "forgiven" the attackers on Tuesday.

Rashid quoting famous lines of Jesus Christ said “forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing. I am the follower of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) who has forgiven to the worst of his detractors and those who have opposed him.” Rashid formerly met visited the police station and withdrew the case.

Further he said that the people who attacked him were “misguided”.

“I have sympathies with them and hope better senses will prevail upon them” Er Rashid Said. He further said “attack on me is not any Issue. While main issue is no one should interfere in our fundamental rights. Let Prime Minister and his colleagues clarify what sort of India they want and if they really want India to remain plural.”

Rashid was at Delhi's Press Club accompanied by the family of the lynched man when three men set upon him and threw black ink on him.
