Rehabilitation of 50 Sex Workers to be Done by DCW and CII

CII officials who met Maliwal at her office yesterday also said that they will prepare a proposal for schooling of the children of sex workers.

NEW DELHI: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) will work for the rehabilitation of sex workers ofG B Road, the largest red-light area in the national capital.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal said CII along with the NGOsworking in G B Road area, will identify first 50 sex workers  in the beginning who want to voluntarily give up sex work and start a new life.

"Detailed plans for their rehabilitation will be created by CII in collaboration with the Commission. A proposal for training will also be created for women living in Nari Niketan and other observation homes. CII will also help collect CSR (corporate social responsibility) funds for this project," said Maliwal.

CII officials who met Maliwal at her office yesterday also said that they will prepare a proposal for schooling of the children of sex workers.
