Minister Calls for Unity to Settle Naga Issue

KOHIMA: Nagaland Home Minister Y Patton today appealed to all sections of the Naga society, including underground groups, to come together and explore solution to the protracted Naga political issue.            

"It is the desire of all sections of Naga people that the protracted Naga political issue be resolved once and for all. And the solution should be honourable and acceptable to concerned," Patton said while inaugurating the 17th Biennial General Conference of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) here.  

For the purpose, he said, unity of all the Naga people, including the underground groups, was necessary. He said peace was must for the progress of any society and once the Naga political solution was achieved there would be a new dawn of hope to start a new life.         

Towards this end, Patton urged upon the young generation, especially members of ANCSU, to extend cooperation to the government machinery to curb anti-social activities for creating a conducive atmosphere in the Naga society.

Regretting lack of values among the present generation, the minister said it was the duty of the youngsters to rise up to the occasion and work a change in the society.
