RSS Does not Subscribe to Violent Measures, Says Sarkaryawah

MUMBAI:On the eve of the 90th foundation day of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS), Sarkaryawah Suresh Joshi also known as Bhaiyaji Joshi on Wednesday made it clear that violence was not acceptable to the organisation. He also termed the recent incidents of violence “unfortunate”. “We don’t support any type of violence. The path of violence is not acceptable to us. There is a need to bring out the real reasons behind the violence,” Joshi told reporters here after delivering a lecture in memory of senior RSS pracharak Shrikant Joshi.

On whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reacted late to the incidents of violence, Joshi declined to comment. “I can’t say anything on this. Only he can comment on them,” he said. The Sarkaryawah dubbed as political the Shiv Sena’s tirade against Pakistani artistes.  “There are political reasons behind it,” he said. He echoed Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ view that the Shiv Sena’s agitation had brought a bad name to the state.

However, Joshi was quite dismissive about reports that Pakistan issue had created a rift between the BJP and the Shiv Sena. “Not only the BJP and the Shiv Sena, but all the political parties should come together to oppose Pakistan,” he said.

Earlier, in his speech Joshi said that by nature India could neither do injustice to anyone nor exploit anyone. “If there are any incidents of injustice or exploitation, an individual should be blamed for that and not Bharat (the society).”

Joshi contended that swabhimaan (self-respect) was an integral part of development. “The development cannot only be physical. Self- respect is also a parameter of development. It should not be ignored,” he said.

The administrative head of the RSS also praised Modi over his foreign policies. “We never attacked a weak neighbour. The small countries are looking at India with hope. The present leadership (Modi) has assured the world that we will be with them.”  Furthermore, the RSS Sarkaryawah  insisted that India should not follow anyone on the development model but that she should become the leader of the world.

“If the thought of Bharat will remain great the rest of the world will also remain great,” he said.
