SRINAGAR: National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah today called for early resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan, saying it is "imperative" as people of Jammu and Kashmir have to bear the brunt of tension between the two countries.

"Animosity between India and Pakistan is highly detrimental to peace, and all its brunt has to be borne by the people of Jammu and Kashmir...It (resumption of dialogue) is imperative to bring thaw in bilateral relations," Abdullah said while addressing party workers here.

Criticising the firing by Pakistani troops, he said, "This has made the life of border people miserable and resulted in loss of precious human lives and property."

About his party's political and development policy, he said, "NC's vision document of 'Naya (new) Kashmir' provides a viable and befitting road map for an equitable development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh besides political stability and lasting peace," he said.
