MEERUT: A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was found murdered at a village here with police suspecting that he has been killed as part of black magic rituals.
The mutilated body of the boy, who was missing since Tuesday, was found at a sugar-cane field at Jatpura village in the district, triggering protest among local people who claimed it was an act of witchcraft, police said.
The victim was identified as son of policeman, Sumit, a resident of the village, they said.
Police said the manner in which boy has been murdered, prima facie it appears to be a case of black magic.
Rohta police station in-charge, said that the victim's parents suspect hand of a family of the village behind the murder.
The post-mortem of the body has been done. Based on the suspicion police have detained two persons for questioning, he added.
The boy had gone out to play on Tuesday evening, but didn't return home. His parents earlier had filed a missing complaint in this regard, police said. PTI
