RSS Meet Moots Internal Security Issues on Day II

NEW DELHI: The second day of the RSS-BJP meeting discussed issues related to the internal and external security and education where senior ministers Rajnath Singh, Manohar Parrikar and Smriti Irani briefed the Sangh functionaries about the initiatives taken by the government.

On the internal security front, the discussion revolved around Kashmir, Article 370, spread of Naxalism, rehabilitation of Hindu refugees in both J&K and North Eastern states.

Sources said Parrikar briefed the gathering at Madhyanchal Bhawan on India’s preparedness on the border and steps taken to deal with China and Pakistan.

HRD Minister Smriti Irani spoke about the new national education policy being brought by the government next year in which the focus would be on learning, bringing vocational training as part of it. Sangh-affiliated bodies working in the field of education had already submitted their proposals on the education policy where they want the emphasis to be on ancient Indian knowledge and system of learning.

The three-day meeting had started in Delhi on Wednesday where senior ministers, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, BJP president Amit Shah were present. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to pay a visit to the meet on Friday. On the first day, discussions revolved around the economic scenario of the country and measures taken to improve growth and development. During the discussion on the internal security on Thursday, Rajnath Singh spoke about security challenges.

The RSS functionaries are learnt to have raised the issue of recent terror attacks and the increasing ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Suggestions were given on how to tackle Naxalism which were spread in many states.

Singh also spoke about the framework of the Naga peace treaty entered into by the Centre with NSCN (I-M) which, sources said, was appreciated by several participants. The RSS also expressed concerns that Hindu refugees in J&K be settled, while cultural integration of North East with the rest of the country be carried out.

BJP Education  Ministers to Meet

New Delhi: After the RSS-BJP meeting to achieve greater coordination between the ideological parent and the government, the BJP is going to call education and culture ministers from the party-ruled states for a uniformity in approach.
