SURAT: Hardik Patel, who is spearheading the Patidar quota stir in Gujarat, said that Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, in which the assembly of more than four people is restricted, has been imposed here because the government is scared, adding that they would conduct a rally on September 13.

“The government is scared. Section 144 is imposed and we were denied permission for the march that was to be held today,” Patel told ANI.

“We have cooperated with the government this time around. We will now conduct a rally on September 13,” he added.

Patel also stressed all that the protestors want is to have peace in the state.

“We want to have peace in Gujarat. We are not doing any rally at this point of time because the government is trying to disturb the peace and harmony of the state,” he further said.
