Bangladeshis Top the Chart of Foreigners Visiting in August

NEW DELHI: Incredible India campaign drew 5.89 lakh foreign tourists in August this year as compared to 5.76 lakh in the same period last year, a growth of 2.3 per cent.       

Maximum tourists came from Bangladesh (15.79 per cent) followed by  USA (12.52 per cent), UK (9.71 per cent), Sri Lanka (7.25 per cent), according to Tourism Ministry data.       

There were total 50.68 lakh foreign tourists during January-August as compared to 48.51 lakh in the corresponding period last year, showing a growth of 4.5 per cent.       

Forex earnings from tourism during August were Rs 10,471 crore as compared to Rs 10,385 crore in August 2014, a growth of 0.8 per cent.
