IMPHAL: Explosive materials weighing five kgs, which could be used in making IEDs, were unearthed this morning, Superintendent of Police, Imphal West district, A K Jhaljit Singh said today.

The police team led by Additional SP, Imphal West district Bikram unearthed five packets of explosives after interrogating two arrested persons Jalal and Dhaneshwar from the residential complex of one Laishram Tondon alias Somorendra (48) of Tera Sayang Konthoujam Leikai, in Manipur's Imphal West district.

To a query, the SP said it was not yet known to him if the said explosive powder packets were RDX or not.

Police detained the owner of the residential complex Laishram Tondon for further investigation in the matter, the SP added.
