Policy on Senior Citizens to be Prepared: Rawat

Harish Rawat said, a policy on senior citizens would be prepared, besides creating a 'Senior Citizen Council' in the state.

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said that a policy on senior citizens would be prepared, besides creating a 'Senior Citizen Council' in the state.

"To make the policy and council for senior citizens, all organisations working for the elderly people in the state will be consulted," Rawat said at the Federation of Senior  Citizen Association of Uttarakhand's annual conference here.

According to an official statement issued here, the chief minister asked all the big municipalities to construct a park for the senior citizens. He also announced Rs five lakh aid for the Federation.

Rawat said the state government is making efforts towards making such a policy on senior citizens which would instill confidence in them.

The Hamare Bujurg Hamare Teerth' (Our elderly, our pilgrimage) scheme was launched to make the senior citizens aware of the fact that we care for them, Rawat said, adding, on the same lines, another scheme has been launched to provide nutritious food to women senior citizens.
