NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday extended the stay on former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran’s arrest in the illegal telephone exchange case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had sought Maran’s arrest in connection with the case. Maran had moved the apex court and obtained a stay on his arrest.

The apex court had earlier given interim relief to Maran, staying his arrest till September 14.

The CBI had earlier asked the apex court to uphold the Madras High Court’s August 10 order cancelling Maran’s anticipatory bail, saying that there is sufficient evidence to establish his guilt in the 2G spectrum scam.
