Jhabua Blasts: Enquiry Commission Constituted

JHABUA: The Madhya Pradesh government has constituted a one-member enquiry commission under retired high court judge Aryendra Kumar Saxena to probe the Jhabua blasts that claimed 88 lives.

An official order issued on Tuesday night said that the commission will submit its report to the state government in three months.

Over 100 people were also injured when a cylinder blast at a tea stall packed with customers was followed by a massive blast that ripped through an adjoining building in Petlawad in Jhabua district on Saturday , police said.

The commission will look into the circumstances in which the blast took place, who were responsible for it and whetther the house owner or the tenant had a licence to store explosives.

The commission will also investigate if any complaint was made against the illegal storage of explosives in the building and if any action was taken on it.

The state government has announced a Rs.1 lakh reward for information on Rajendra Kaswa, the main accused in the blast and has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
