Bihar Elections: Over Rs 30 Lakh Cash, 5,926 Litres of Liquor Seized

PATNA: In continuing operations to enforce the Model Code of Conduct, more than Rs 30 lakh unaccounted cash and 5,926 litres of illegal liquor were seized today from different parts of the state.

Giving details of the cash seized, Additional Chief Election Officer R Lakshmanan told reporters Rs 17 lakh cash was recovered in Bhojpur district alone.

Rest of the cash was seized from Nawada, Banka and Madhubani districts, he said.

He said 5,926 litres of illegal liquor was seized during the day.

Two persons were arrested with 15 mobile phones and 20 SIM cards from Majha police station area of Gopalganj district, Lakshmanan said.

He said 36 cases have been registered under the Defacement in Public Property (wall writing, posters, banners) and ten for misuse of vehicles.

Twelve arms/weapons and 36 cartridges were seized, he said, adding, a total of 899 non-bailable warrants were executed.
