Cops Nab Computer Engineer in Faridabad for Duping Woman Thorough Matrimony Website

During the interrogation the man has admitted of duping 50 women, the same way as he did with the girl, a resident of Faridabad, police said.

FARIDABAD: A man who is a computer engineer has been arrested by Faridabad Police for allegedlyduping a woman of money after making friendship through a matrimony website and promising her marriage.

During the interrogation the man has admitted of duping 50 women, the same way as he did with the girl, a resident of Faridabad, the police said today.

The woman, a resident of Ashoka Enclave in Faridabad filed a complaint with Police Station Sarai Khwaja in Faridabad alleging that she came in contact with one Rohan Kapoor through a matrimony website.

The woman and Rohan became close friends soon and started talking on phone too.

Rohan, posing himself as a renowned businessman asked the woman to pay his representative an amount of Rs 10,300 which he needed urgently and assured to return the amount as soon as he returns from Nepal.

After paying the amount the woman tried many times, but the call could not be connected to Rohan.

Getting suspicious she filed a complaint with the police and a case of fraud was lodged on September 15.

The arrested man has been identified as Akash Anand, said the SHO Cyber Cell Inspector Jasbir.

The SHO informed Akash Anand has passed computer engineering from R G College Meerut in UP.

Since he didn’t get any job for quite some time, he started duping women using his knowledge of computers.

His modus of operandi was to post the photo of some handsome man on his profile with a new name and attractive profile to attract women through internet and matrimony websites.

One unique feature found in the modus operandi of Akash Anand was that after gaining confidence of the women, he used to get the bank account opened through the targeted woman in his fake name.

Then he used to get the ATM Card through courier and withdraw the amount in the bank.

After that he used to terminate any contact with the woman.

He has admitted of duping more than 50 women in the last four years of time, the SHO said.
