NEW DELHI: A 37-year-old woman was allegedly abducted in a Meru cab by its driver and his two friends, who drove her around western parts of Delhi and later took her to a shop, where she was gang-raped by them and their two other associates. The incident occurred in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

The woman was let off by the five men around 4.30 am on Friday. Police have arrested the five men, including the driver of the cab. The cab was also confiscated.

“On the basis of the woman’s complaint, a case of abduction and gang-rape was registered at the Paschim Vihar police station and all the five men were arrested,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpendra Kumar.

The officer said the crime began with the abduction of the woman from Paschim Vihar and ended in her gang-rape in the shop in Peeragarhi which was about 15 kilometres away from the spot where she was abducted.

The woman in her complaint alleged that she had left home around 10.30 pm on Thursday to fetch coconut water from a nearby market when she was abducted. She was sent to the nearby government hospital where her medical examination confirmed gang-rape.
