Muzaffarnagar Riots: Gang-rape Survivor Alleges Threats

A woman gang-raped during 2013 communal clashes told a court that she was being threatened by the accused.

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A woman, who was allegedly gang-raped during the 2013 communal clashes here, today told a fast-track court here that she was being threatened by the accused to withdraw her case.

The lawyer of the victim, senior counsel Vrinda Grover, today appeared before the court and alleged that the victim was being threatened by the accused who were also trying to delay the proceeding.

Fast track court judge Gulab Singh adjourned the hearing till October 5 on the request of the accused who sought time to engage lawyer.

The prosecution lawyer has filed an affidavit in the court and has requested that the victim's statement should be recorded as early as possible.

The victim came to the court today amid tight security.

A total of seven gang-rape cases, including six in Phugana village and one in Lank village, were registered against 27 people.
