Three Ultras Killed, 43 Held in Manipur

IMPHAL: Assam Rifles (AR) in coordination with police forces of Manipur killed three ultras, apprehended 43 and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition in last 45 days in the state, an AR release said today.

During the counter insurgency operation, from August 1 to September 15 last, three cadre of PLA were killed, the AR release said this evening.

Seven cadre of United National Liberation Front (UNLF), seven cadre of NSCN(K), five cadre of PREPAK (PRO),

six cadre of PREPAK, four cadre of PLA, eight cadre of KYKL, one cadre of ZUF, one cadre of KCP, one cadre of PREPAK (VC) and three 'overground' cadre of UNLF, PREPAK and KYKL each were apprehended, the release said.

The release said arms and ammunition including one AK-47 rifle, two 7.62 mm A-1 Rifle, one 9 mm carbine machine gun, four 9 mm pistol, one lethod gun with 3 lethod shells, one country made 12 bore single barrel rifle, 8 improvised explosive device, two Chinese hand grenades and other assorted ammunition were recovered.
