Tensions Erupt in Greater Noida After Cow Slaughter Allegations

Tension erupted after a mob beat to death a 40 year old man from minority community over allegations of cow slaughtering.

GREATER NOIDA: Tension erupted after a mob beat to death a 40 year old man from minority community over allegations of cow slaughtering in Jarcha village of Greater Noida on the  intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered by the District Magistrate.

According to police, the incident took place on Monday late night when some people in Jarcha area of Greater Noida noticed Iqhlak and his son Danish carrying cow skin and meat in their locality .

As the news spread Iqhlak and his son were attacked by a mob in their home, beaten then dragged. Accusing the police of laxity, local residents came on the main road leading to Dadri from Jarcha and jammed traffic, set afire a police vehicle and started hurling bricks and stones.

A youth was shot in police firing and over dozen of villagers and cops got injured in the clash. Heavy police force has been deployed to control the situation from escalating further.

“As of now situation is under control, six people have been arrested yet. We have deployed adequate police force including Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) in the village and nearby areas to avoid any incident” said Kiran S, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Budh Nagar district.

An FIR has been lodged by victim's daughter in Greater Noida and 15 persons have been booked in various sections, six people have been yet informed police.

Looking at the situation which might get out of hand , police  went for fire action to disperse the mob. A youth identified as Rahul Yadav got injured in alleged police firing.

"A magistrate inquiry under the district magistrate has been formed to investigate the incident including the youth injured by police . We are meeting with both communities to maintain peace in the areas to and investigate further ” Kiran S added.
