NEW DELHI: India on Saturday urged all nations to devise strategies on knowledge sharing, risk information system development and assessment of potential risks to formulate advance preparations to face any disaster.
Addressing the valedictory session at the three-day Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) 2016, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said all nations should ensure that the government and communities analyse their resilience and act on promoting hazard-safe sectoral development with greater use of reliable technologies.
The Home Minister urged the nations to put in place methods of assessing the potential impacts of disasters on national, local economies, communities and the business sector, recognise the perils of growth and often unplanned urbanisation.
Singh said the first major outcome of the three-day conference here is the Asia Regional Plan for Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The other major outcome is the New Delhi Declaration, which commits use of enhancing regional cooperation. This includes strengthening the role of inter-governmental organisations for the coherent implementation of the Sendai Framework, as also the broader 2030 sustainable development agenda, and of fostering innovative partnerships, he added.
