NEW DELHI: Coming together to In joint political offensive against the Narendra Modi government, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee hit out at the ‘financial emergency’ situation after the ‘dictatorial’ order, of demonetisation came into effect across the country, on Thursday.

“The prime Minister wants to make a plastic economy, after that he wants to run away, but we won’t allow that. We will fight for the people who are suffering, rollback this policy within three days” said Banerjee addressing the crowd at the Azadpur fruit and vegetable market in Delhi.

Tearing into Modi, Kejriwal said "This (demonetisation) is the biggest scam in independent India. Notes are being home delivered to some people. People are being cheated. Why did IT not raid former BJP Minister G Janardan Reddy who spent Rs 500 crores in his daughter's wedding? And they want us common people to spend Rs 2.5 lakh in a wedding”.

Throwing in his weight of his experience as an income tax official prior to joining politics Kejriwal said that introducing the Rs 2000 big currency is not going to black money issue , which the prime minister claimed as the main reason behind shelving of Rs 500 and Rs 100 currency notes.

Further, both the leaders knocked on the doors of the Reserve Bank of India seeking reply on questions regarding the cash infrastructure and the capacity the body. Sitting outside the RBI, both the leaders were stopped by the official and the police when they tried to enter the premises. In a handwritten note, Kejriwal handed over the information to the officials.

“Who is responsible for the deaths of 40 people, common man does not have the daily necessities that they need. How much currency needed? How much printed? What is capacity? How many more days will it take?” these are the questions that need to be answered.

“Kejriwal  along with Mamta Banerjee wants to create chaotic conditions in Delhi so that law and order situation could run out of control. The meeting failed to enlist public support. Even before the start of the meeting traders showed black flags to the organizers” said BJP leader Vijendra Gupta.

Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung appealed to the people not to lose patience as there are enough cash reserves available in banks.
