Five Burnt to Death in Two Fire Incidents in Bihar

Five persons including three minors were burnt to death while three others sustained burn injuries in two incidents of fire in Sitamarhi and Kaimur districts today, officials said.   

SITAMARHI/BHABHUA (Bihar): Five persons including three minors were burnt to death while three others sustained burn injuries in two incidents of fire in Sitamarhi and Kaimur districts today, officials said.   

At least three persons--two widows and a minor-- were burnt alive as a fire broke out in hutments in Mauna village under Runnisaidpur block of Sitamarhi district, District Magistrate Rajiv Roshan said.

The fire broke out in one house and spread to other hutments, destroying around 60 houses.

The reason behind the fire is being probed, Roshan said said two fire tenders brought the fire under control.          

The DM said relief camps are being set up in the village for the affected people.

In the other incident, two minor girls were burnt to death while a woman and two other minors sustained serious burn injuries in the fire incident at Mohammadpur village under Mohania police station in Kaimur district.         

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jitendra Gupta said the hut of the victims caught fire during cooking.         

He said the deceased has been identified as Ankita Kumari (8) and Suman Kumari (9).
