NEW DELHI: A 51 year old man, first time driver of cab providing service Uber was shot dead by two teenage age passengers after an altercation in the national capital on Friday.

The two juveniles – aged 16 and 17 – have been detained after they were tracked with the help of data provided at the time of booking the taxi.

According to the police after getting into the cab the duo started making fun of the deceased, identified as Kuldeep Thakur native place. In reply Thakur also joked about their hometown and the teenagers retaliated by shooting him.

“Our thoughts are with the family of our driver-partner, the victim of this mindless violence. We have pro-actively shared details with the police to assist them with their investigation,” said Gagan Bhatia, general manager, Uber North India.

The police are trying also to ascertain how and from where the minors got the firearm used in the crime.
