JFDC to be Set Up by Month-end: Jharkhand CM

Das said, directions issued for setting up of Jharkhand Film Development Corporation by April 30 near the state capital.

JAMSHEDPUR: Chief Minister Raghuvar Das today said directions have been issued for setting up of Jharkhand Film Development Corporation (JFDC) by April 30 even as he promised help to develop a film city at Patratu, near the state capital, soon.

Das, who was accompanied by his predecessor Arjun Munda, made the announcement at the concluding ceremony of seventh Santali and Regional Film Festival organized by All India Santali Film Association (AISFA) at Gopal Maidan this evening.

AISFA had been demanding setting up of a JFDC. The state government had recently recently framed a state film policy.

"I have instructed the concerned officials to take necessary steps for forming a JFDC by April 30," Das said, claiming that his government was committed to complete any development project undertaken by it within a timeframe.

Referring to the delay in framing the film policy, the chief minister said the delay was not because of any discrepancy of language but for the grant.

Das said he had also met Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Anupam Kher and they were highly appreciative regarding the film policy and assured to visit the state.

Das said the film city would be developed over a stretch of 200 acres of land and would help in promoting the Santali and regional films as well as preserve the rich culture and tradition of the state.

"The natural beauty of Patratu or sunset and sunrise scene of Kiriburu in West Singhbhum makes the spots worth visiting," he said, adding no other state in the country has as many dams and natural waterfall as Jharkhand.

Even Maharashtra did not have as much natural beauty as Jharkhand, he said and wondered if a film city can come up in Maharashtra, then why not Jharkhand.
