NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi government is planning extensive publicity campaigns to highlight its success stories and achievements on the occasion of completing two years in power on May 26. Cabinet Ministers will appear on television to speak about their Ministries’ achievements.  In this regard, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is writing to all Cabinet and Union Ministers to make them available for half an hour of interview with Doordarshan.

In fact, a top government official said the Prime Minister had asked all his Cabinet colleagues to not only highlight the achievements of his or her Ministry, but also keep track of the developments in other Ministries as well. “All senior Ministers have been directed to keep themselves apprised about the achievements of other Ministries so as to project broader achievements of the government among the public,” official said. To oversee second anniversary celebrations of the NDA government, Modi has set up a Group of Ministers comprising Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Power Minister Piyush Goel, Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Junior Minister in the PMO Jitendera Singh.

Last year, Power Minister Piyush Goel had handled the celebrations himself. Besides, the PMO has also asked all Ministries to make short films and documentaries on success stories and achievements of their respective departments. These short films will be screened in theatres and cinema halls before movies.
