Five killed in mishap due to dense fog in Bihar

AURANGABAD: Five people, including two women, were killed here on Monday when their car rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway 2 due to poor visibility.

Mufassil police station SHO Krishnandan Verma said the incident took place during dense fog around 5 a.m near Ora village. While on the way back after attending a marriage in Dhanbad, the driver carrying others in the car failed to spot the stationary 18-wheel truck in front and rammed into it from behind. The car also was hit by another truck from the rear and the occupants got sandwiched between the two heavy vehicles, said Verma.

Of the six passengers in the car, four died on the spot, while the fifth person died while undergoing treatment at a local hospital. The injured person was referred to Varanasi for treatment, the SHO said.

The deceased, who were residents of Chenari in Rohtas district,  have been identified as Dipak Kumar, Jitendra Singh, Krishna Singh, Sita Devi and Kajal Kumari.
