MUMBAI: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday indicated that he might skip functions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including his public rally, where the BJP would virtually kickstart its poll campaign for the civic elections, on Saturday.

Though Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had earlier said Thackeray would be a part of the team that would lay the foundation memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Raj Bhavan, sources said his name was not confirmed.

Thackeray told the media that he has already assured farmers in Shahapur, who are agitating against land acquisition for the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur super highway project, that he would meet them the same day and may skip the PM’s function.
