RAE BARELI: Targeting the Narendra Modi government over corruption and price rise, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today said her party will "expose" it.

The Congress chief, who arrived this morning on a two-day visit to her constituency, asked the party's office-bearers to unitedly fight the policies of the Modi government. "Modi government makes tall claims about corruption, but it has failed to see corruption in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat.

"Congress will expose such a government and workers should remain prepared for it," she was quoted as telling party workers in a release. "The Modi government has failed to see rising inflation and the dismal state of farmers. It is preparing a scheme to waive loans worth crores of rupees taken by capitalists," she said.

The Congress chief said the UPA government had introduced welfare schemes such as MGNREGS which were lauded by World Bank but the BJP-led NDA government is ignoring such programmes.

Hitting out at the Centre, she also said that the people were not getting the real benefit of falling petroleum prices.     "Even the prices of life-saving drugs have been hiked manifold. It goes to show that Modi government has no concern for the poor," alleged Gandhi. The Congress chief lauded the partymen for their struggle against the flawed policies of the Modi government and said these needed to gain momentum.

Giving an account of the works done for her constituency, she said that in case of any obstacles, all will fight against it. Earlier in the day, she visited Sandi Nagin and Sardar ka Purva villages where she interacted with locals.

At a 'chaupal' at Sardar ka Purva, as villagers apprised her of problems regarding MGNREGA, power, water and housing, Gandhi told them she would take up these issues with the government. She visited noted poet Munawwar Rana, who lost his mother recently, District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar, whose wife passed away, and some others to express condolences and also paid obeisance at the Jharkhandeshwar temple, for whose renovation she had given Rs 35 lakh from her MPLAD fund.

Gandhi made a detour to a primary school in Amava block and spent time with the children, whom she asked to recite Hindi alphabets. She also enquired about the mid-day meal scheme and whether they were getting milk or not.

Tomorrow, Gandhi will meet the people of her constituency and party workers at Bhueymau guest house here and later visit some more villages to inspect the developmental works before leaving for New Delhi.
