CHENNAI: Folk artist Kovan who was arrested by the State police few months ago on sedition charges on Thursday protested against the central
government supporting the JNU students, in the city.
Kovan along with 57 others from various organisations were detained by police after they staged a sit in near Shastri Bhavan in Nungambakkam.
The protestors raised slogans condemning the union government for politicising the JNU issue.
They were rounded up by the cops and detained at a community hall.
Folk artist Kovan of Makkal Kalai Ilakkiya Kazhagam (MKIK) was arrested in october 2015 on sedition charges after he penned and released a song portraying CM J.Jayalalithaa in bad light for not enforcing total prohibition in the state.
