Raped by Auto Driver, Says German Girl

A 19-year-old girl from Germany, who was working with a Delhi-based NGO, has alleged that she was sexually assault ed by an autorickshaw driver in the national capital two months ago. The case has come to light with the victim sending an e-mail to the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on February 4. The alleged incident took place on December 14. The victim recorded her statement before the commission on February 19. The DCW then directed the police to file an FIR. Police said the victim’s statement was recorded and an FIR was filed on February 24. Police said the victim, in her statement, said she fell unconscious and can’t remember any details of the auto rickshaw or driver.

First Non-Navy DG for  Indian Coast Guard 

Rajendra Singh on Saturday took charge as the Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, the first non-Navy officer to be elevated to the top post. Singh, who belonged to the first batch of Indian Coast Guard in 1980, took charge from Vice Admiral H C S Bisht. Bisht will take over as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. Singh was the Inspector General (West region) during the 26/11 terror attacks. Singh has been working as the Additional Director General of the Coast Guard. His elevation as the DG was approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet on February 24. He is the first officer from Coast Guard to head the agency.
