Delhi Awaits Robust Action From Nawaz Sharif

NEW DELHI:  India is awaiting “robust action” against the mastermind of the Pathankot Indian Air Force base attack, even as New Delhi still has to get a “firm proposal” from Islamabad on sending a special investigation team.

Meanwhile, no new dates have been finalised for Indian and Pakistan foreign secretaries to meet to draw up the schedule for the comprehensive bilateral dialogue.“No, unfortunately we do not have a date yet but the two Foreign Secretaries have been in touch, and as soon as a mutually convenient date is found we will let you know,” said MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup at his weekly briefing on Tuesday.

India and Pakistan have mutually agreed to postpone the meeting of the foreign secretaries on January 15 so as to move beyond the shadow of Pathankot attacks. Both sides have said that talks will be rescheduled at “very near future”. He added that India continued to “expect robust action by Pakistan against all perpetrators of the Pathankot terrorist attack and bringing all of them to book”. On whether the Pakistan SIT will be allowed to visit Pathankot air force base, Swarup said that it was a “matter of detail”. He added that India had “in principle” welcomed of Pakistan government to send a SIT.
