CAT notice on Doordarshan's DG Supriya Sahu

The tribunal’s order came on a plea of Doordarshan’s additional director general, Mahesh Joshi, who contended that Sahu was recommended despite being ineligible as per rules.

NEW DELHI: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Friday issued a notice to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Prasar Bharati on a petition challenging the appointment of IAS officer Supriya Sahu as DG of Doordarshan.

The tribunal’s order came on a plea of Doordarshan’s additional director general, Mahesh Joshi, who contended that Sahu was recommended despite being ineligible as per rules.

CAT also issued a notice to Sahu and Prasar Bharati CEO Jawahar Sircar and directed all the parties, including the appointments committee of cabinet (ACC), to submit replies before July 8, the next date of hearing.

“In the meanwhile, any appointment made to the post of Director General DD would be subject to the outcome of the case,” the order said.
