KOLKATA: The Forward Bloc, one of the main constituents of the Left Front, on Wednesday severely criticized the CPM for aligning with the Congress just before the West Bengal Assembly polls.
Party general secretary Debabrata Biswas said, “Lakhs of Left workers had been literally crying as they had been victims of the Congress. The Assembly polls results showed that opportunistic politics can never succeed.
“Being in power for 34 years, vested interests gained the upper hand in the Left movement. The politics of gaining power through elections ignoring the demands of the masses can lead only to destruction,” he said pointing the finger at the “big brother” CPM.
The Forward Bloc and the RSP were strongly opposed to the tie-up and refrained from joint campaigning with the Congress.
