SASE Issues Avalanche Warning for J-K, Himachal and Uttarakhand

Similar warning has been issued for areas of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts in Uttarakhand.

CHANDIGARH: Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) has issued a Medium danger avalanche warning for several avalanche prone regions in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

“Medium danger avalanche warning exists for avalanche prone areas of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipur, Kargil, Shopian, Anantnag, Kulgam, Rajauri, Doda and Poonch districts (all in J & K) respectively,” said an advisory issued by SASE lab, which is a part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

“Medium danger avalanche warning exists for avalanche prone areas of Lahaul & Spiti, Kullu, Chamba and Kinnaur district (in Himachal),” it added.

Similar warning has been issued for areas of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts in Uttarakhand.

The advisory has further advised people to not venture in avalanche prone areas.

The hills of Kashmir received fresh snowfall yesterday and the rains lashed the entire State leading to drop in the temperatures across the State.

In Himachal Pradesh, Dhundi and Patsio had fresh snowfall of 60 cm and 32 cm while Bahang and Solang Nala witnessed rainfall of 78.6 mm and 70 mm respectively.
