Asaram's Alleged Henchman Kartik to be Brought to UP for Questioning

Kartik was also allegedly involved in the killings of Asaram's personal doctor Amrut Prajapati in June 2014.

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Asaram Bapu's alleged henchman, accused of killing three key witnesses in the rape cases filed against the self-styled godman, would be taken on transit remand by UP police for interrogation in connection with the murder of Asaram's personal aide Akhil Gupta.       

Kartik Haldar was arrested by Anti-Terrorism Squad of Gujarat on March 13. "Kartik would be taken on transit remand for interrogation after he confessed that Akhil Gupta was murdered by him with the help of four other accused including Tamraj of MP, Suraj of Sitapur, Balbir of Rajasthan and Niraj of Muzaffarnagar," SSP K B Singh told reporters here today.    

35-year-old Akhil was shot dead on January 11 last year. He was a cook and personal aide of 74-year-old Asaram, who has been in jail since August, 2013, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old schoolgirl.     

Kartik was also allegedly involved in the killings of Asaram's personal doctor Amrut Prajapati in June 2014 and another key witness, Kripal Singh, in July last year.
