Cancelling Your Rail  Ticket Just Got Easier

NEW DELHI: Soon dial 139 and cancel your booked railway ticket with Indian Railways all set to launch the service for convenience of passengers who find it difficult to reach the counter within the stipulated time for cancel and refund of confirmed tickets.  

The railway has proposed that passengers can call 139 and give details of their confirmed ticket for cancellation and receive a one-time password (OTP). The OTP has to be taken to the counter the same day to claim a refund. The facility is for people who booked ticket from counters. The facility will be available from next month and the The Railways has also doubled the cancellation charges.

How to Go About it

Here is how you can cancel the ticket you bought at the counter. Doesn’t apply to ticket bought online

1. Call 139

2. Give details of ticket to be cancelled

3. Receive an OTP. It will be valid for a day

4. Visit the ticket counter same day

5. Provide OTP at counter

6. Get refund
