DEHRADUN: The Congress Party on Monday took the verbal attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party over the imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand to a new level, with party leader Kishore Upadhyay likening Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a ‘Political Dracula’.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as a political Dracula to suck the blood of the Congress governments (Rajnetik Dracula ke roop mein Modi ji Congress sarkaron ka khoon choosne ka kaam rahe hain). And the people of Uttarakhand will not forgive him.

“Our focus should be on important issues of the country like drought, drinking water problem, and financial year is ending and how the money can be efficiently utilized rather than murdering democracy,” he added.

Echoing similar sentiments Congress leader Pramod Tiwari alleged that the BJP resorted to unfair means to remove an elected government in Uttarakhand, after all the attempts to lure their MLAs failed.

“This is limits of cheating. Modi ji’s government has murdered democracy and Constitutional values a day before floor test. They tried everything to lure away Congress MLAs, but hey failed. And when you failed in all the attempts, you murdered the Constitution and removed an elected government by unfair means. Every non-BJP party should learn from this. We have full faith in the judiciary, we will get justice. We have faith in the people,” he told ANI.

Upset over imposition of President's rule in Uttarakhand, which had sent the political temperature in the state soaring, the Congress party yesterday said that they would challenge the imposition of President's rule in the court.

After almost seven days of verbal battle between the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the political crisis in Uttarakhand, President's rule was imposed in the hill state on Sunday.

The Uttarakhand Assembly has been kept in suspended animation following President's rule in the state.

The recommendation for central rule was made by the Union Cabinet at its emergency meeting last night, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Congress had dubbed the cabinet meeting as the last phase of the drama scripted by the BJP.
