Power not back in 2 hours? You'll be compensated, says Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: With the summer temperatures shooting up in the national capital, the demand for power has increased resulting in huge power cuts in Delhi for the last few days. In a move that could have repercussions for other power-strapped states, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that his government was putting in place a policy to provide compensation to people suffering from power cuts.

“We have given policy directions to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) that unscheduled power cuts have to be fixed within two hours. If that does not happen then the people in that area must be compensated. There was a meeting with DERC, policy will be applied soon,” Kejriwal said.

“Power discoms will be issued a show cause and will be penalised if the power cut exceeds two hours” Kejriwal said.
