NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Police Special Branch is inquiring into the complaint against AIB comedian Tanmay Bhat for disrespecting legends Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar.
A complaint has been lodged against Bhat for posting an irreverent video of a mock conversation between the singing legend and master blaster.
“The Special Branch is inquiring into the complaint against AIB,” said DCP, PRO Mumbai Police Sangram Singh Nishandar.
Earlier on May 26, Bhat posted a video on his Facebook account captioned ‘Sachin vs Lata Civil War’, along with this disclaimer: I make such nonsense on my Snapchat. (I make such nonsense on my Snapchat - follow me there - ID: Thetanmay) (Also I obviously love Lata and Sachin, just having some fun).
Bhat’s jokes usually get appreciated, but he faced the wrath of his fans and several Bollywood celebrities this time.
Several Bollywood celebrities, including actors Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh and Celina Jaitley, criticised the comedian for “insulting” the diva of Indian film music and the master blaster.
“I am 9 times winner of #BestComicActor. Have a great sense of humor. But This's NOT humor. #Disgusting&Disrespectful,” Kher tweeted.
“Am absolutely shocked. Disrespect is not cool and neither is it funny,” Riteish, who will be seen in the upcoming romantic comedy film ‘Housefull 3’, wrote on Twitter.
