SP sacks Akhilesh loyalist MLC Udyaveer Singh

He had written a letter addressed to MSY targeting UP CM’s stepmother.

LUCKNOW: With speculation rife about a possible split in the Samajwadi Party (SP), the party leadership on Saturday expelled MLC Udyaveer Singh for six years after he irked party supremo Mulayam Singh by writing a letter against the latter’s family.

According to the media reports, Mulayam Singh has been upset with his son and Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav for protecting Udyaveer who wrote a letter alleging that the CM was being targeted by his stepmother and black magic was being used on him.

The decision was taken after the party chief met senior leaders earlier in the day to find solutions to end the ongoing internal feud that was leading the party towards a split.

The sources also said that Mulayam without taking the name of Ram Gopal Yadav, a close aide of Akhilesh further expressed his displeasure as the former had reportedly approached the Election Commission to float a new political party just when the state is about to go for elections.

The party leaders who met with Mulayam are likely to have a separate meeting with Akhilesh. The ongoing crisis precipitated on Friday when Akhilesh Yadav decided to not attend the crucial party meeting called by state unit chief and his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav.
