KOLKATA: Cyclone Kyant, formed over Bay of Bengal, will not have a major impact in West Bengal, where light spells of rain are expected from October 27, the Met office here said on Tuesday.

The cyclonic depression at 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday was located 630 km north-northwest of Port Blair.

"There will be light spells of rain due to the passing storm. We are not expecting major impacts in Bengal. Most of it will be focused in north coastal Andhra Pradesh," an official of the regional meteorological office said.

The storm is expected to move initially west-northwestwards, and then west to west-southwestwards towards west-central Bay of Bengal during next 72 hours, said an IMD bulletin.
