Teenager among two shot dead in Kashmir

Militants today shot dead two persons, including a teenage boy, in separate incidents in Shopian district of Kashmir, police said.

SRINAGAR: Militants today shot dead two persons, including a teenage boy, in separate incidents in Shopian district of Kashmir, police said.     

Gunmen shot at Hilal Ahmad Malik, a cable operator, near his residence at Malik Mohalla in Shopian at around 8.00 pm, a police official said.     

He said Malik was taken to a hospital but succumbed on the way.   

Police sources said two militants involved in Malik's killing have been identified as Zubair Turray and Umar Nazir.     

Earlier, a bullet riddled body of a teenage boy was recovered from an orchard at Dhobipora in Shopian.   

Gowhar Ahmad Dar, 17, was found dead in a orchard at around 12 noon, a police official said, adding, the deceased had been shot in the head.     

There have been three killings in south Kashmir by unknown gunmen in the past 24 hours.     

Militants had shot dead a PDP worker at Dialgam in Anantnag district last evening.
